About Giacomina Ferrillo
Giacomina Ferrillo is an Italian artist with a rich and versatile background. Graduated in Scenography, Art of Printing Techniques and Graphic Design and a Master in Illustration, she has held various professional positions in the theatrical field, interior design and publishing. As an illustrator and author she has published a dozen children's books, translated into several languages. Since many years she has been completely dedicated to botanical art, in love with the discipline itself and the continuous sense of amazement that it is capable of arousing. She is ASBA member, four times SBA exhibition attended, 2024 RHS Silver-Gilt medal awarded.
About the course
Hone in you sketching skills in Tuscany with renowned artist Giacomina Ferrillo. This six day course offers a unique opportunity to observe and capture the region’s diverse flora, from delicate wildflowers to ancient Seggianese olive trees, using traditional and contemporary botanical illustration techniques.
Through daily guided sketching sessions in our gardens, vineyards, the Amiata mountain, and the rolling countryside, participants will develop their observational skills and refine their ability to render plants with accuracy and artistry. Giacomina Ferrillo will provide expert instruction on composition, line work, shading, and color application, helping each student bring their botanical subjects to life.
Throughout the course you will not only learn how to become a better artist, but also go on excursions in the area. Some of these include, but are not limited to, a tour of Seggiano, a visit to the Spoerri Garden (a world renowned sculpture garden founded by artist Daniel Spoerri) and, for those who are interested, a wine tasting.
The course is open to artists of all levels, from beginners to experienced illustrators looking to deepen their practice in a stunning natural setting. Materials, techniques, and the historical tradition of botanical art will also be explored, ensuring a well-rounded artistic experience. Whether you are looking to refine your artistic technique or simply spend a week sketching in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, this course offers the perfect blend of learning and leisure.

Cost
Just about everything is included in this price: airport pick-ups and drop-offs, transportation for the excursions, etc., breakfast lunch and dinner, accommodation, and tuition by Giacomina Ferrillo. Not included are your flights to Rome or travel insurance.
All cancellations are to be done within forty-eight hours from the time the deposit is made to get a full reimbursement.
